AEW Dynamite starts off with Orange Cassidy defending his AEW All-Atlantic Championship against The Firm’s Big Bill.
After a game of cat and mouse, Cassidy tries to take it home early with a Slumdog Millionaire but is countered by Bill. Bill has control as fighting continues on the outside when a table from ringside is introduced with Cassidy going through before we head to a commercial break.
We return from break with Big Bill still in control as Big Bill gets Cassidy back in the ring. Cassidy finally counters to big boots and rolls to the outside Big Bill is going to throw Cassidy into the ring post but then Orange Punch! He hits one more to the knee and a drop kick to the ribs.
Cassidy is back in the ring, hits the Slumdog Millionaire then a DDT followed by an Orange Punch and another! Cassidy climbs up for an Orange Punch from the top rope! Cassidy secures the pinfall and remains the All-Atlantic Champion.
Moxley cuts a promo about Texas Death Match at AEW Revolution
A bloody Jon Moxley cuts a passionate promo address directed at Hangman Adam Page about their upcoming Texas Death Match this weekend at Revolution.
A promo later in the show from Page addressed Moxley, hyping up the match, claiming to have “nothing left to lose”.
High drama as AEW Trios titles are on the line
The Elite comes out and poses at the beginning of the entrance ramp. All of a sudden, the lights go out, and all you can hear is the sound of fist meeting flesh.
Once the lights came back on, the House of Black is standing over The Elite holding the Trios Championships. They will face off against each other with the titles on the line at Revolution.
A promo from the House of Black later in the show, holding the Trios titles, telling The Elite that they will leave their titles for them since they have already lost them on Sunday.
Hobbs wins the Face of the Revolution match
As we cut to the commercial break, ROH Television Champion and TNT Champion Samoa Joe makes his way out to the commentary booth. He joins for commentary for the Face of the Revolution ladder match.
The winner of the match secures a bid for the TNT Championship.
Participants in the match were Konosuke Takeshita, Komander Ortiz, Action Andretti, Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, AR Fox, and “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs.
With a hard-hitting fight with all men getting their hits in and taking just as many as well as a scary spot with Sammy hitting the ladder with his head. Komander hit a great Shooting Star press to the outside with AR Fox being the recipient on the ladder to the outside. The finish comes when Powerhouse Hobbs’ body tackles the ladder while Takeshita is climbing the ladder and climbs up to grab the brass ring to win.
After the match, we about had a face-to-face with Joe and Hobbs, but Wardlow comes out and hell breaks loose while Joe retreats.
Best Friends not medically cleared for Casino Tag Team Royale
It was revealed that Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor were not medically cleared for the Casino Tag Team Royale. However, Danhausen and Orange Cassidy are best friends, and Cassidy has ample room in his bag for another championship.
Jericho is victorious over Peter Avalon, acts like a sore winner
Chris Jericho continues his campaign as to how insufferable he can be as a heel in his latest matchup with “Pretty” Peter Avalon.
Avalon got an early jump on Jericho, which resulted in an early retreat by Jericho to the outside. That was met by a dive on Jericho by Avalon, keeping control in the process.
Jericho was unable to muster a comeback during Avalon’s relentless flurry of offense.
However, Jericho did see a window late in the match to hit the Codebreaker on Avalon for the pinfall.
After the match, Jericho decided to play the sore winner card, attacking Avalon with his bat Floyd. Ricky Starks would attempt to make the save, but was quickly overwhelmed by the Jericho Appreciation Society.
The next chapter in Christian Cage/Jungle Boy rivalry continues Sunday
We see an in-ring segment with Christian Cage, who claims that he is not finished with Jungle Boy Jack Perry. He states that Jungle Boy will not win a singles title in 2023 because he will win it first.
He would then challenge Jungle Boy to a match at Revolution.
Jungle Boy appears on the Jumbotron, digging a grave for Cage.
Tony Khan has booked the match at Revolution as a No Holds Barred match.
Women’s title on the line in a triple-threat match
There was a backstage promo with AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker hyping up the Triple Threat match for the title Sunday.
Hayter will defend her title against Saraya and Ruby Soho.
Hook retains FTW Championship
And now for something that doesn’t really matter: the unsanctioned FTW Championship. Current champion HOOK was booked to defend the title against The Firm’s Matt Hardy.
The match had a lot of quick back-and-forth action with members of The Firm interfering from the outside, with the referee not seeing the interference. Hardy had the upper hand with other members of The Firm also getting the upper hand.
No one had a quick advantage until Kip Sabian hits HOOK with a cast.
Hardy tried to go for a Twist of Fate, but it was reversed into a rear naked choke by HOOK for the submission win.
Riho secures a distraction win over Toni Storm
Toni Storm and Riho face off in the lead-in match to the main event. Riho uses her speed and stealth to get an upper hand on Storm, locking in a submission hold before a rope break.
Storm would then get the upper hand after knocking Riho out of the ring, grabbing the ref’s attention while Saraya hits a big boot to Riho.
Storm would continue the beatdown as Hayter and Baker make their way from the back as they cut to commercial.
Riho gained the upper hand as they return from commercial, forcing Storm to the outside. Riho would climb to the top rope and nail a huge cross body to the outside on Storm.
Riho would then get Storm back inside the ring, nailing a double stomp as well as a Northern Lights suplex/pin combo. It was kicked out by Storm.
Riho returns to the top rope once again, looking for a powerbomb, but Storm is too strong, gets the upper hand, and nails a hip attack for a two-count.
Storm would then be distracted by Baker. Amidst all the confusion, Riho secures a win via the most devastating move in all of professional wrestling, the roll-up pin.
Danhausen, Orange Cassidy win Casino Tag Team Battle Royal
The main event saw the Casino Tag Team Battle Royal, where the winner will have a shot at the Tag Team Championship.
Participants in the match include the tag team of Orange Cassidy and Danhausen, Top Flight, Aussie Open, 2point0, The Kingdom, La Faccion Ingobernable, Blackpool Combat Club, Lucha Brothers, and The Butcher and The Blade.
Danhasen and Cassidy would secure the victory in the nearly 21-minute battle, earning a shot at the Tag Team Championship Sunday in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team match against The Gunns, former champions The Acclaimed, and the tag team of Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
Also appearing on the broadcast were MJF and Bryan Danielson, who face each other Sunday in a 60-minute Iron Man match for the AEW World Championship.
