Is Brandon Silvers in the running for the XFL’s first MVP? Through the first three weeks in the league, Houston Roughneck QB, Brandon Silvers, is flying under the radar. He quietly sits 2nd in the league in passing with 723 yards in three games and tied for 1st in TD passes with 7. He also leads the league in pass plays over 20+ yards with ten. Oh, and the Roughnecks are also 3-0 sitting on top of the XFL South Division.
Silvers has played good football over the first 3 weeks. His offense is averaging 26 points a game. Highest in the XFL. His 230.7 yards a game through the air has him second in the league. This has him ahead of ex-NFL and more notable QBs A.J. McCarron, Paxton Lynch, and Brett Hundley.
The area of improvement would be turnovers. With a top-ranked defense, Silvers just needs to take care of the ball. His 3 interceptions are tied with Seattle’s Ben DiNucci for most in the league. Keeping the defense in good positions will continue to lead to wins down the road.
Speaking of the road, Silvers and the Roughnecks will be tested in three straight road games in 17 days. The Roughnecks take on Orlando, Seattle, then DC all on the road. They will also have 5 of the next 7 games on the road.
A true test for a young talented QB. If they make it back home unscathed, they could potentially return to TDECU Stadium to play the St. Louis Battlehawks in front of an electric crowd, still undefeated.
