ST. LOUIS — St. Louis Battlehawks defensive tackle Kevin Atkins is heading to the NFL, according to a league press release Wednesday.
Atkins has signed a contract with the New York Giants. This marks the 33rd XFL player to sign a NFL contract in the offseason. He joins seven other Battlehawks to get the call-up to the NFL.
Atkins was responsible for 14 tackles in ten games in the 2023 season. In addition, he also tied for second in the league with two fumble recoveries.
To date, 127 players have received invitations to training camps and individual workouts with NFL teams.
As a part of the deal, the Battlehawks are retaining the player rights to Atkins. If he is released from the Giants organization, he will return to active duty in St. Louis.
Requests for comment from the Battlehawks organization were not immediately answered as of publication.
